BELGIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATON

Ms. Majeda Nabhan, LICP Programme Director, Engineer Hani Ghosheh, Director of Public Relations at JDECO and Engineer Zaki Afghani, Director of the JDECO Training Center, distributed certificates to 14 electricians from Municipalities and Local Government Units-LGUs from the governorates of Tulkarem, Salfit and South-East Jerusalem, where the trainees had completed three training courses within the program on different topics at JDECO Training Center in Jericho.

Before launching the training program, trainees attended a needs assessment workshop at JDECO Training Center which was moderated by Engineer Hani Ghosheh to identify their needs and inform them of the training programs available at JDECO Center.   Based on the assessment, a training programme was designed by the Center and approved by the Programme Director of LICP to accommodate the various levels of the trainees.  The proposed program was divided into two training courses, one as a general course covering many different aspects and basics of electricity and the other is specialized for experienced electricians which was followed by examination to grant the successful candidates a certification from JDECO.

At the end of the 10 day program, trainees were tested by a Special Examination  Commission from JDECO and based on the results of these examinations, trainees were granted one-phase and three-phase certifications/permits.

In the words of one of the trainees, Khalid Sharar, an electrician from Illar Municipality, who was selected as a representative to the trainees, praised the program of courses that have been implemented and stressed the great interest which has been expressed by the participants, noting the capacities of trainers at the Center.  He also thanked the BTC and the LICP Programme Director for developing the capacity of municipal staff including electricians.

Mr. Salah Froun, Al Eizariya Municipality electrician, who obtained a certification-license on three-phase, stressed the importance of respecting the procedures and instructions of JDECO to maintain public safety and the safety of electricians in particular. He also expressed his thanks for BTC/LICP.
